United States Wolf Refuge

Blue - Former Resident of the US Wolf Refuge

Good-Boy BLUE !!!

by Shellie Robertson, Volunteer

We love happy endings, and that certainly has been Blue’s destiny. A young wolf-dog rescued from an animal shelter in California, two years ago Blue had no future at all. He was going to be euthanized simply because he is a wolf-dog.

Blue began his new life on August 16th 2006 when he arrived in Nevada at the UNITED STATES WOLF REFUGE. This wonderful boy happily ran around the interior of the compound, introducing himself to all of our “pack” members. It seemed that within minutes, Blue had been accepted by all of the other animals and had been a member of our “pack” his entire life. He enjoyed his new found freedom and played with Voyager as if they had known each other their entire lives. Did they somehow know…did they somehow sense, that they had come from the same animal shelter in the same city? We will never know, but I like to think that they did.

Although we would have loved to enjoy Blue’s company forever, “rescue” is not about rescuing animals and keeping them all.Blue It’s Blueabout finding safe and loving homes for the adoptable

ones. A wonderful local couple fell in love with this handsome bi-eyed boy and asked to adopt him. They were experienced wolf-dog owners, had a ranch and were willing to build him the compound he needed to keep him contained and safe within their home. Shortly thereafter, Blue went to his new “forever” home. Two years later, we are fortunate to still see him occasionally. Good-Boy BLUE, only the best for you! Happy, healthy and NOT at all underfed!!!!
