2011 Tax-Deductible Donations

We understand that in this difficult economy it is not easy to donate to organizations such as ours. Family most definitely comes first. However, if the opportunity arises, please think of us when making a Tax-Deductible donation this year. Our "pack" always appreciates the help from our supporters.

What's Been Going on in Temerity's World?

Once again on 03/04/11, "Dad" (Bill) checked into the hospital to continue with his second round of Bill gets love and support from TemerityChemotherapy. Just before he went back into the hospital he had to take ME to the Animal Hospital. I was very sick but they quickly figured out that I have an inner ear infection so I spent the entire week as their guest so that they could watch me closely while Dad was away. THANK GOODNESS that we have such wonderful people helping us and that my wonderful vet DR. ADAMS at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital loves me so much. The office is going to try to help us out a little with our bill. Thank you so much!

Please keep Bill in your thoughts & prayers. Just for everyone's information, we have unfortunately found out that Nevada does not have State Disability Insurance. They give a person $200.00 per month food stamps to help out, so the only funds currently coming into the refuge are Donations. If you can help (as many of you have) please do. Thank you~

In The Spotlight
PUTNAM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Connecticut 4th Grader's Love Our Pack

Mrs. Shaw's 4th Grade Class. We recently received an extra special request from four of the 4th Grade Classes at Putnam Elementary School in Putnam CT. (Mrs. Shaw's class - photo right)

The children are studying Wolves and one of the students found our website on the computer. All of the classmates took up collections and each class ordered a separate Adopt-a-Wolf Packet. They voted on which animal they wanted to adopt. I was so excited by these requests that I had to include some extra little "goodies" that I thought the children would enjoy.

Over the years Bill has made many presentations at various public schools with our ambassador animals, but this was the first time classrooms have purchased our Adopt-a-Wolf packets.

Ms. Fellows 4th grade classI received e-mails from a couple of the teachers the day they received the packets which said:

"My class and I would like to thank you for all the things about Athena that you sent to us. The kids were so excited when the package came. The students have enjoyed researching wolves since they read the story Look to the North Diary of a Wolf Pup by Jean Craighead. They are now in the project stage. Athena has become a member of our class and they refer to her as "our" wolf! Thank you so much, Kadie Fellows". (photo left).

"Received the packet today, Thursday. Kids absolutely LOVE the packet contents. The fur was a big hit. We are having a Family Fun Night at our school on the 31st. The four 4th grade classes are doing "wolf" things. We will definitely include a display board of the things you sent. Kids are doing Reader's Theater plays with wolves as characters. My class is using the data about the wolves to be adopted from your website and making graphs about their ages and weights. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PACKET. How exciting that Putnam Elementary is the first school to adopt wolves. Mrs. Shaw's 4th Grade Class"

Art Paws 2011

We are currently in 3rd place…
PLEASE VOTE & ASK A FRIEND TO VOTE TOO!

Art Paws 2011Petfolio Magazine's Readers Choice Contest is up and running but there was a slight snafu with the voting. Beginning February 1st we were all able to start voting again but due to some mix ups they changed the rules and started the voting again from square one.

Unlike last year, this year each person can only vote one time from one computer/one IP number.

We'd like to ask everyone to please remember to cast your ONE vote for us, but because of this we also need EVERYONE to contact everybody they know and ask them to also vote for us. We're going to have to work really hard this year if we are to win this contest. We are currently in 3rd place.

Please log onto www.petfoliomagazine.com to cast your vote for the U.S. Wolf Refuge as your favorite animal organization. The last day to vote is May 1, 2011. Please help us win this contest again this year. Thanks!

PowWow 2010

It's Time...
That We ALL Have A Big Powwow…

The STANFORD POWWOW has snuck up on us! Before you know it Mother's Day Weekend will be here and we'll be packing it all up and heading for the Stanford University in California.

If you have a chance to visit us there, it is more than worthwhile. Once you go to one Powwow like this one, you'll be hooked forever. Not only is this our largest fund raising opportunity each year, but we've made many friends that come back year after year to see us. We're excited that it will be our 4th year.

Pack Members of the Month

"BANDIT"

Bandit is available for adoptionOur pack member of the month for April 2011 is one of the youngest members of our pack "BANDIT". Bandit is also one of the largest animals to call our refuge home and is a close runner-up to Tully who weighs in at 115 lbs. It's quite obvious that he got his name because of the mask around his eyes.

Bandit is a "foreclosure" pet that came to us from a family in Reno who unfortunately lost their home and could no longer keep him. He is our 4th victim of foreclosure. Prior to that, as a puppy, Bandit lived with another person in Reno who found that he was just too much "puppy" for her to handle.

It's very unfortunate that the only stability Bandit has known in his short life of about a year and a half, has been at our refuge. Although he is very large and strong, he is a wonderful boy and he is truly loved by us all. He is no longer that tall, gawky "teenager" that we took in. He has matured to be quite a stunning, handsome "young man".

Bandit's favorite playmate is 7 year old Tully. What a site it is to see when these two HUGE animals get together to wrestle with each other. Bandit and Tully are the next two animals to be released together to share our second 3 acre enclosure which should be completed within a few months.

Bandit is available for adoption and we have high hopes that the right person will come into his life soon to give him that safe and loving "forever" home that he so deserves.
