2011 Tax-Deductible Donations
We understand that in this difficult economy it is not easy to donate to organizations such as ours. Family most definitely comes first. However, if the opportunity arises, please think of us when making a Tax-Deductible donation this year. Our "pack" always appreciates the help from our supporters.

U.S. Wolf Refuge Welcomes a Future Wolf-Pup Volunteer "LUCAS"
LUCAS was born Saturday 1-22-11 at 2:27pm. Weight: 8lbs 15.5 oz. Height/length: 21inches to proud parents Kati & Ryan, U.S. Wolf Refuge volunteers.
We're sure that we'll see a lot of this little guy and we're hoping that he will grow up to love these wolves as much as we do.
Congratulations Kati & Ryan!!! OWWWOOOOO!!! (that's a congratulatory howl…)
A Good Deed Done … Say Hi & Bye to "PAX"
"PAX" ,a white German Shepherd mix, came our way via Reno's local Animal Shelter. After Bill Chamberlain was asked to do them a special favor by taking Pax to our refuge temporarily, Pax joined our pack.
At first they questioned whether this young guy could possibly be a wolf-dog, but No…he's just a plain old dog, so volunteer Tammy Boatwright took on the task of looking for a German Shepherd Rescue to try to get this wonderful dog into the perfect new home.
Luckily, German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California agreed to take him off our hands after they came all the way up to the refuge to assess him. We'll be waiting for updates and are sure that they will be able to find the perfect new family for this wonderful dog.

Pack Member of the Month
"ARROW"
Somebody had to be looking over us for sure the day that we brought "ARROW" home to the refuge. He brought new life into everything and everybody he touched with his cute little personality.
ARROW is so special and since he immediately bonded with Athena, we thought there would never be a better companion for her in this world, so we had to make him a permanent resident of the refuge.
So far, the only pack member who hasn't taken to him immediately has been Bandit, but since they are pretty much the same age, we're thinking it's just a small power-play on Bandit's part – Arrow still just wants to play….but we'll keep them separated since Bandit is triple Arrows size and weight!
Arrow thinks that everyone of the animals he comes in contact with has been brought here just so that he can chase them or they can run and chase him! Watching him run is incredible – when all of the others are at a full hard run, Arrow just dances past them like they're standing still, and he NEVER gets tired. Athena often just gives up and lays down and watches him. There's no way she can keep up.
Arrow especially likes to play with staff/volunteer Chris Mikulice's dogs Shasta and Simon, honorary pack members who frequent the refuge every time she ventures there. Eight year old Shasta (who's a shepherd mix) probably keeps up with Arrow better than anyone, but little Simon gives it his all! It's more entertaining than anything you could ever watch on TV.
